Now elsewhere in my articles here at Ezine Articles I have covered this subject quite thoroughly, though not as a single topic article, so I suppose it could be said that it is an article subject that is somewhat overdue. None the more for that, a kind reader recently left a suggestion for this subject with the statement as follows:
“I have a woman who attends my church who believes you can lose your salvation, I disagree with this.”
Interestingly, this comment is more fascinating with regard to what it doesn’t say rather than to what it does say. First, though, I am very glad the writer does disagree with the woman, because if we are predestined and called and chosen as the elect of The Father to be brothers and sisters of Yashua Messiah then that is what we will be, even if we are not yet called. If some of us are already called we were always going to be called of The Father to His Son anyway, and we need to be clear about this before we move on with the dissecting of the above remark, and this is predestination:
Romans 8:28-30 (KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.
If, after reading these Holy Scriptures, you’re thinking: “What about our free will?” then stop thinking about it, because you don’t have free will. Man with his mythical free will is the biggest of all the Devil’s lying scams and deceptions. Man has a will, but it is not free until he is called.
Moreover, we need to let it sink in that Samuel, Jeremiah, Isaiah and all the other Old Testament Spiritual giants including King David were always going to be Spiritual giants. It was all planned long before they were born as was The Lord’s sacrifice (the Lamb slain before the foundation (disruption) of the earth), and so it is with us, if we are called and chosen by The Father. Until we learn the fundamental basic that we have no say in this miraculous event (Saul on the road to Damascus being a great example) we will always be questioning the surety of our salvation, especially if we believe the lie that we have accepted a ‘Jesus’ as our saviour, which is, in reality, salvation (slavation) on our terms.
In turn, this brings us back to the woman and what she believes to be the case i.e. that we can lose our salvation. More importantly, though, we must concentrate on what she is not saying. The chasm she is not revealing is what kind of salvation it is that she believes can be lost. I am saying that we cannot lose our salvation if we are called and chosen, and that is real salvation, so what is this woman telling us? What kind of salvation is she talking about, for I will tell you straight it’s not the salvation that I have or the salvation I have described above. So what kind non-salvation (slavation) does this woman have that she thinks it can be lost?
Here, too, is another question: Is she in the possession of the same kind wishy-washy uncertain type of salvation (slavation) that she thinks the rest of her congregation has? In other words is she as uncertain about her own salvation as she wants all those around her to be. Is it to ease her own troubled mind about her own uncertainties, or make her feel more comfortable with her own spiritual insecurities having loaded all those uncertainties and insecurities onto the shoulders of her fellow believers?
Now I ask these questions because I have heard these doubting types before and they always seem to have big mouths, spreading their negativity throughout the congregations, worrying and discouraging the faithful believers of those congregations. If any of you have the misfortune to meet one these naysayers then tell them to be quiet. If they refuse then bring another alongside you and command this one to repent. If they still refuse then report them to the pastor. If the pastor doesn’t back you up, then get out of there as fast as you can and dust off your deer hunting shirt as you leave.
Right, back once more to the woman, whom, I will presume, believes she can lose her salvation just like many of those around her at her ‘church’. Now apart from the fact she obviously doesn’t understand what being Born of God (Born Again) truly means, nor does she understand the process involved, due to her ignorance of The Father’s will and His calling, so where else do the foundations of her insecurities lay? Quite simply in the Cainite-Judeo-Christian Religious system of ‘salvation by works’. It really is as simple as that, but for those of you who are not yet understanding, here are a couple more questions:
1. If salvation is wholly dependent upon US and how WE perform, do you think it would be possible for us to lose our salvation?
2. If salvation is wholly dependent upon The Father’s call and Yashua Messiah working in us and through us 24/7 via the Holy Spirit, would it be possible for us to lose our salvation?
I hope you get the gist of what I am putting across here, but let’s look at this issue from another angle and ask another question, because these people also make emotional statements without thinking them through first. They talk freely about us losing our salvation, but never expound on what they mean by it and how this dreadful scenario could come about if it were to happen. You see, the problem is they open their mouths, the brain is not engaged, and out pours verbal diarrhoea of the most foul kind. So how can their non-salvation be lost? Through this mindset right here:
John 6:65-66 (KJV) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. 66 From that many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.
So here we have many learners (disciples) losing their opportunity to be saved – they went back – they turned away. Please note, these learners (disciples) were not saved. These disciples were trainees, people having not yet received the Gift of the Holy Spirit. This means these people were not yet saved, but they lost the opportunity to be saved, because they could not accept the fact that The Father had called them to Yashua Messiah. They wanted to believe it was all down to them; their idea; their initiation; their righteousness; their motivation; their wisdom; their cleverness and of course their sole decision. This means that they could feel good about themselves, tell themselves how wise they were and give themselves all the credit by having accepted The Lord as their Saviour – salvation on their terms, which means a non-salvation or a counterfeit salvation.
OK, if we now look at what this woman is saying in the light of the above Truth, we have to assume she is suggesting that we can walk away from Yashua Messiah or turn our backs on Him – a deliberate premeditated decision and something we would want to do. The thing is, is a Spirit led believer going to do this i.e. someone who is in a close relationship with his Heavenly Brother? This would be a betrayal of the worst kind which would then beggar the question: If someone decides to do that what kind of relationship did they have in the beginning? I’ll tell you, they had no relationship with Yashua Messiah at all, just like those learners (disciples) in John 6:66. They were never of Yashua Messiah in the first place so they turned their backs on Him and walked away.
Look, folks, this is the only way their so called salvation can be lost and there is no other way and at the same time it’s not salvation anyway, it’s religious salvation by works or Judaism – people earning their salvation by their own efforts, their own process, their own progress and their own righteousness.
If we now recap thus far, what do we find? We find a woman in a congregation who goes around discouraging her brothers and sisters by telling them they can lose their salvation, when all the while she is most likely not even saved herself. How do we know she is not saved? because she is telling those around her that they can lose their salvation when that is plainly not true – it’s a lie and who is the father of lies?
Having got this far I can still hear some who are still not convinced by what I have said and they will very likely quote these Holy Scriptures:
Hebrews 10:26-28 (KJV) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of The Truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Now to whom is the writer addressing this solemn sermon? Why it’s to new converts and it’s a warning to them to make sure they are being called by The Father so that their calling is genuine, because if it isn’t they will not last. Notice that the writer is warning them that if there is a despising of The Law in their hearts then they cannot be of Yashua Messiah. Those who are truly Born of God (Born Again) love The Law and keep it close in their hearts. Anyone in this Spiritual state is never going to lose their salvation. Notice, too, the previous verses:
Hebrews 10:19-22 (KJV) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; 21 And having an High Priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Here the writer is inviting the listeners to enter into life – new life via Baptism i.e. their bodies washed with pure water, but to not do it frivolously and continue in sin thereafter wilfully, which would be the equivalent of trampling over Yashua Messiah’s sacrifice. These Holy Scriptures are nothing to do with those already called and chosen, for Yashua Messiah would see to it that we stay on the narrow path. If we drift off at times He brings us back. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us through thick and thin, so let’s be done with this blasphemous nonsense about a true son or daughter of God losing their salvation, for it ain’t gonna happen!
Finally and to the reader who left the above statement; please feel free to run off a copy of this article and present it to the next blasphemer who tells you, you can lose your salvation – with my ‘compliments’ of course.
