The term “Kinky Boots” originated in the underground Dominatrix / S&M world of London and broke into the mainstream female fashion scene in the early 1960’s. They are often garishly colored, or have multiple zippers or laces. These kinky boots are still associated with the S&M / Dominatrix scene, and are increasingly popular among cross dressers, transvestites or drag queens in full regalia.
