Why is wearing comfortable shoes so important? Whatever happened to the saying “beauty is pain”? Yes, beauty is pain, but is beauty and style worth enduring all that pain? There are different kinds of shoes for men and women. For men, styles include shiny black formal ones, pointy shoes, casual sneakers and slippers. For women, the styles include heels, slippers or flip-flops, lady sneakers, flats and so many more. Shoes can describe a person’s personality and sense of fashion, but, it can also bring excruciating pain.

Men usually go for what they feel are the most comfortable shoes for them, despite of what others think, because they are not as choosy and picky as women are. Women, on the other hand, depending on the occasion, choose to bear the pain as long as their feet look good.

However, what happens with most females is that when they are in the mall and they are wearing 5 inch heels because they have just come from an event, or they just feel like wearing it, they start to complain an hour or two later of painful, sore feet and toes. Wearing uncomfortable footwear is good for only a while, but its benefits will turn into disadvantages, not only to your feet but also to your health and personal wellbeing, if you start wearing them for a long time.

Here are a few reasons and statements highlighting the importance of wearing the most comfortable shoes:

• Uncomfortable footwear can get on your nerves and cause you your health.

An example would be pointy ones. Pointy footwear may compliment your outfit, but haven’t you ever thought of how your last two or three toes feel being squished together for a long period of time? Haven’t you ever considered how painful your feet will become? This is also not beneficial to your health, because your feet will be experiencing soreness, especially in the last two toes, due to Morton’s Neuroma, which is an abnormal thickening of the tissues that surround the feet. Sometimes, these cases can become extremely serious, that the only cure is to have a surgery just to get rid of the pain.

It would be perfectly fine if you are only planning to wear these inconvenient footwear for a short period of time, and then you can just simply change into more comfy ones after the event, such as flip-flops or slippers. It’s also good for your health and personal hygiene if you allow your feet to breathe and relax.

• It affects the way you walk.

Once inconvenient footwear take a negative toll on your feet, pain may strike so badly that it will start to have an effect on the way you walk. You may find yourself starting to limp, therefore, making it harder for you to walk. If you didn’t know, health has a connection to the kinds of shoes you wear. Wearing shoes that aren’t comfy will have a negative effect on the way you walk, putting pressure on other parts of your body, as well, such as your knees, thighs, ankles, hips and your back. Your posture may also change in position. Also, if you are the person whose knees and ankles are very sensitive, you may end up getting a twisted ankle or a dislocated knee cap.

• Shoes are meant to protect the feet, not hurt or damage them.

Bad footwear will eventually give your feet blisters, bunions and/or calluses. These are the foot’s response to poor shoes. These three are awfully painful and only blisters can go away on its’ own.
