People in warmer climes are probably used to having a slightly altered Christmas, but that doesn’t mean that people in the colder climates can’t also take up the habit of having a Fiesta Christmas Party as well.
This can be a great way to bring some spice to your traditional Christmas and it may even help you to forget about the cold weather outside. Many kinds of Mexican foods all ready come colored for Christmas. There’s red salsa, green peppers, white and green onions and so on. You shouldn’t have too much of a problem coordinating your food with the décor. For a helpful hint look in the store for those red and green dyed tortilla chips to put out with your salsa on the buffet table.
You can decorate your Christmas tree with a string of red and green jalapeño peppers. You may even be able to convince the guests to take a few home with them. If you have the red pepper outdoor lights you can set them around your front door or string them around the interior of the home for some festive lighting. A centerpiece for your buffet table can be a bowl of colorful bell peppers. You can even strew smaller peppers across the table for decoration.
The meal should be easy and fit with the theme. A taco buffet is good but can get a little messy. You may have a small indoor electric grill you can set up, so you could have the guests make their own quesadillas and simply place the mixings on the buffet while you man the grill.
When Santa comes around to give out presents you can have the ‘actor’ wear a red Hawaiian beamng and shorts instead of the red suit. He would keep the white beard and hat so the kids would find it easier to recognize him.
